I write this with a heavy heart and trembling hands, as a father who is desperately trying to save his little son’s life. My name is Mahendra Ram, and my 4-year-old son, Rudra Kumar, is battling a cruel disease—eye cancer. He is currently undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), but his condition is deteriorating fast, and we are struggling to provide him with the care he urgently needs.

Until recently, I worked as a daily wage laborer in Bichkila, a small village in Chatra district, Jharkhand, earning barely enough to take care of my family’s basic needs. But when Rudra was diagnosed with cancer, everything changed. Frequent hospital visits, expensive tests, and endless treatments made it impossible for me to continue working. I had no choice but to leave my job to be by my son’s side, as he fights this painful battle. My wife, a homemaker, is equally devastated, and we now find ourselves living in a small jhuggi near AIIMS, struggling every day just to get by.

Rudra is too young to understand why he is suffering, why he can no longer see the world clearly, or why he has to endure painful treatments instead of playing like other children his age. Our heartbreak deepened when cancer took away the vision in Rudra’s right eye. Now, his left eye is at risk, and every passing day feels like a race against time. Every time he cries out in pain, every time he asks us to take him home, my heart shatters into pieces. As parents, we feel utterly helpless watching our baby boy go through this nightmare.

The doctors have told us that immediate and continuous treatment is our only hope of saving Rudra’s vision—and his life. Chemotherapy, medications, and ongoing care are essential, but the cost is far beyond what we can afford. We are completely drained, financially and emotionally, and we fear that without help, we may lose our precious son.

I never imagined that one day I would have to ask strangers for help. But as a father, I will do whatever it takes to save my child. Today, I am reaching out with a humble plea—please help us give Rudra a chance to live.
